Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ED for newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics, including triage and prioritization of multiple acutely ill patients
- Administer medications, perform treatments, monitor patient responses, and interpret ongoing assessments
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, techs, social workers, and case managers to facilitate timely patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Document care in the EPIC electronic medical record; maintain accurate, complete, and HIPAA-compliant charting; monitor and report vital signs and changes in patient status
- Manage high-acuity conditions (stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, respiratory failure) using standard ED protocols and available specialty equipment (e.g., Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun)
- Float to designated ED areas as needed; support SANE expectations within the ED; uphold patient and family communication and safety throughout the shift
Requirements
- Active New York Registered Nurse license; Nursys verification with a current NY license and all RN licenses
- Certifications: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC required to be in hand
- Experience: 2+ years in Emergency Department nursing; some pediatric experience; travel experience required
- EMR: Epic experience required
- Additional: Driver’s license with address that matches demographics; ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment; willingness to float as needed
