Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for ER patients from triage through discharge, including initial assessment, ongoing monitoring, and documentation.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Initiate and manage IV therapy, fluids, and cross-disciplinary orders; facilitate diagnostic testing and imaging as needed.
- Respond rapidly to clinical changes; lead or participate in code/rapid response situations and ensure patient safety.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, techs, and ancillary staff to optimize patient flow and timely treatment.
- Document accurately in the electronic health record; perform thorough handoffs and patient education at discharge.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia (or eligibility per state requirements)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER/ED nursing experience
- Certifications: AHA BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Ability to work a 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) and 12x3 rotations
- Willingness to work major holidays (two of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day) and one minor holiday (e.g., The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve)
- Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity ED environment and manage multiple priorities
