Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the nursing department to ensure safe, high-quality resident care and regulatory compliance.
- Manage hiring, scheduling, supervision, and performance of nursing staff; provide mentorship and accountability.
- Uphold accurate documentation, care plans, medication administration, and interdisciplinary communication.
- Collaborate with the medical director, therapy, social work, and other disciplines to optimize care outcomes.
- Ensure readiness for regulatory surveys and inspections; implement policies and infection prevention practices.
- Maintain on-call coverage, respond to off-hour needs, and model professional standards for the team.
Requirements
- Prior Director of Nursing experience in a long-term care setting is required; candidates without LTC DON experience will not be considered.
- On-call availability is required for the duration of the assignment.
- Ability to work effectively in a long-term care environment and lead a nursing team.
- Must be prepared for a travel temporary assignment with a 4-week contract.
