Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis nursing care, including cannulation of AV fistulas/grafts and catheter management
- Operate dialysis equipment and monitor alarms; troubleshoot machine issues and respond to complications (hypotension, fluid overload, clotting, hyperkalemia, etc.)
- Support SLEDD processes when applicable, coordinating with ICU staff and using available modalities (hemodialysis and PD)
- Monitor patient vitals, fluid status, and treatment efficacy during dialysis sessions; document care in the charting system
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (IV team, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Social Work, Pharmacist, Transport) to optimize patient care
- Maintain safety, infection control, and patient education standards; orient new dialysis staff during shifts as needed
- Charting preferred: Epic (training and use expected)
Requirements
- Active RN license in the United States, with state or compact licensing in hand at submittal
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical RN experience
- Experience in inpatient dialysis care, cannulation, and catheter management; familiarity with dialysis alarms and complication management
- Ability to work 3x12-hour shifts with on-call obligations in an inpatient dialysis setting
- Capacity to operate in adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
- Onboarding and orientation requirements as posted; ability to complete core modules onsite
