GQR Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse Correctional for a travel nursing job in Downey, California.

Behavioral Health RN – Mids
Downey, CA
Looking for an experienced Behavioral Health RN for a 16-week assignment working mid shifts in a secure juvenile behavioral health setting.
Assignment Details
- Start Date: 10/16/2026
- Contract: 16 weeks
- Schedule: 5 × 8-hour shifts
- Shift: Mids | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
- Hours: 40 hours/week
- Weekend: Every other weekend required
- RTO: Maximum 3 days; none preferred
- On-Call: No
- Local Travelers: Accepted
- Travel Experience: Preferred, but not required
- EMR: Cerner
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- 2+ years of psychiatric inpatient experience required
- MAB/CPI certification required
- BLS required
- LA County Fire Card required
- COVID vaccination + booster (if eligible) required
- Must be comfortable with:
- Blood draws
- Passing medications
- Patient assessments
- Triage
- Candidates must have Psych or Correctional Health experience
- Experience in a detention center, jail, locked behavioral health unit, or other secured environment is preferred
- Recent experience (within the last 1–2 years) in Med Surg, ER, Psych, or Correctional Health is strongly preferred
Pay
Estimated Weekly Gross: $2,200/week
- Taxable: $25/hr × 40 hours = $1,000/week
- Meals per diem: $1,200/week
- OT: $37.50/hr
- Lodging: $0
Weekly estimate is based on 40 hours/week.
Schedule & Environment
This position requires every other weekend and is an 8-hour-shift-only assignment. Nurses must be comfortable working in a secure juvenile behavioral health environment and performing hands-on clinical duties, including medication administration, blood draws, assessments, and triage.
