Registered Nurse Clinical Education Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse Clinical Education Manager to lead and enhance our clinical education programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a consortium-wide clinical education program to ensure that clinical staff meet regulatory requirements and maintain necessary certifications and competencies. This position requires a strong foundation in professional nursing, educational program design, and evaluation.
Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities
- Research and maintain current regulations and standards relevant to the clinical practice area.
- Ensure educational activities align with organizational mission, goals, values, priorities, and resources.
- Coordinate regulatory requirements for certifications, including BLS, PALS, ACLS, and TNCC.
- Develop and evaluate training programs, acting as an internal consultant for organizational development.
- Provide educational and developmental services to enhance competency among clinical staff.
- Oversee the trauma registrar program to ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with managers to identify clinical education needs and best practices.
- Lead the clinical education team to coordinate educational opportunities for nursing staff.
- Participate in audits related to clinical education and develop action plans as necessary.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state.
- Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS are required; TNCC instructor certification is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years of professional clinical instructor experience.
- At least 5 years of professional nursing experience, with 2 years as a staff RN in a specialty such as ER, ICU, OB, or OR.
- Two years of supervisory experience is required.
- Prior Emergency Room/Trauma and/or Remote Rural experience is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of nursing principles, practices, and patient care processes.
- Specialized knowledge in managing adult and geriatric patient conditions.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective educational programs for adult learners.
- Knowledge of Alaska State Trauma Program and associated educational requirements.
- Proficient in evaluating standards of care and nursing training modalities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
This role requires regular communication and interpersonal engagement, with frequent standing, walking, and the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. The employee may also need to perform tasks that involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Working Conditions
This position typically operates Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with holiday coverage as required. The role includes significant collaboration with colleagues across various levels and professions.
