Job Summary:
Dietitian in an acute healthcare setting located in the region. This role involves monitoring patients for food and drug interactions, providing education on nutrition, and collaborating with physicians to modify diets appropriately. The position requires assessing patients nutritional needs, interpreting clinical data, and documenting education and diet modifications as part of interdisciplinary team efforts.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift; 7.5 hours per day, minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition; New York State Certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Dietitian-Nutritionist for post-acute locations or registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian for acute locations; minimal 1 year of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition; AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; two (2) years of experience.
- Additional Information: Responsible for screening and assessing patients' nutritional needs, providing education, documenting diet instructions and understanding of the diet, and participating in performance improvement activities. Experience with electronic medical charting systems such as PointClick Care and SigmaCare, as well as electronic menu systems like CBORD, NetMenu, and GeriMenu, is preferred. Familiarity with clinical assessment tools including MDS 3.0, nutrition education, and diet modification is important for success in this role.
