Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (some schedule variation may apply) | No weekend or on-call requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care of cancer patients, including accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments in accordance with the radiation oncologist's prescription and instructions
- Perform simulations, assist with treatment planning procedures including tumor localization and dosimetry, and support Brachytherapy procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment per prescription specifications, including immobilization devices, field sizes, treatment devices, and lead protection devices
- Take, check, and process images of all treated areas; maintain patient markings and update per physician direction; document treatment doses and set-up instructions accurately using the electronic chart at all times
- Educate and reassure patients regarding pre- and post-treatment procedures, reactions, and care of the radiated area; reinforce recommendations from the physician and dietitian
- Observe radiation safety measures, monitor patients during treatment, report unusual reactions or events to designated personnel, and triage sick patients to nursing for evaluation
Required Qualifications
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- ARRT certification
- Virginia Radiation Therapist License required; a Virginia Temporary License is acceptable with a pending Virginia License — license or license status must be included with all submissions
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist
- Position start date is no earlier than November 16th
- Expected weekly hours: 36
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with IMRT and 3-D treatment planning and proper patient set-up in CT
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR
- Experience providing clinical instruction for radiation therapy students
- Experience collaborating with physicists, dosimetrists, oncology nurses, and supportive care teams
