Key Responsibilities

• Administers radiation therapy in accordance with physician instructions and the patient's treatment plan
• Enters data into computer systems and sets controls to operate, adjust equipment, and regulate dosage
• Assists physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists in preparing physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans
• Performs routine and complex radiation therapy treatments including total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy
• Maintains patient and billing records, including radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions, in accordance with department policies
• Performs quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines and provides clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
• Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Ability to construct patient immobilization devices as ordered by physicians
• Knowledge of appropriate protective equipment and safety procedures for patients and staff
