Radiation Therapist (Oncology) – Travel Contract| San Luis Obispo, CA

Position: Radiation Therapist
Schedule: 5x8-Hour Day Shift
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to provide safe, accurate, and compassionate radiation therapy services to oncology patients.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, operating complex radiation therapy equipment, assisting physicians with treatment and simulation procedures, and providing clear patient education and support throughout the treatment process.
 

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ARRT
• CRT

Key Responsibilities

Radiation Therapy & Patient Care

• Perform routine and specialized radiation therapy and simulation procedures according to physician-developed treatment plans
• Deliver accurate and precise radiation treatments while following established policies and procedures
• Assess and monitor patients throughout procedures
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and help alleviate fear and anxiety
• Assist physicians with radiation therapy and simulation procedures
• Maintain accurate patient and treatment documentation

Equipment & Technical Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain complex radiation therapy equipment
• Document equipment readings and quality control results
• Inspect and calibrate equipment as required
• Report equipment malfunctions and arrange necessary repairs or adjustments

Safety & Compliance

• Follow radiation safety standards and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
• Clean and disinfect equipment after each procedure
• Follow all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures
• Ensure patient privacy and safety at all times

Administrative & Clerical Duties

• Answer phones and assist with patient scheduling
• Update and maintain patient appointments
• Retrieve, enter, and update electronic health records (EHR)
• Complete accurate documentation, screening forms, consent forms, and exam charges
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed

Mentoring & Team Support

• Support and mentor students and new Radiation Therapists
• Foster a positive learning environment
• Help team members build confidence in their clinical skills and knowledge

Schedule

• 5x8-Hour Day Shift
• 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
