Job Summary:
Radiation Therapist in Washington, District of Columbia. This full-time position involves providing daily treatment to patients with ionizing radiation under the guidance of the radiation oncologist. The role requires working with healthcare team members to perform simulations and treatments, ensuring quality assurance of treatment equipment, and educating patients and their families about radiation therapy processes.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week, with weekend call possible.
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelor's of Science in Radiation Therapy preferred; ARRT in Therapy (RT(T)) required; Department of State Health Services (Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist) certification required; BLS certification required; 3-5 years' experience as a radiation therapist and credentialed as an RTT required; must reside at least 50 miles away from the facility.
  • Responsible for daily warm-up and Quality Assurance of the treatment machine and C.T. simulator.
  • Provide education and information to patients and family members about the planning and delivery of radiation treatment.
  • Ensure accurate data transfer for dose calculation and adherence to standard treatment protocols.
  • Verify all processes are signed off by the radiation oncologist, including Isodose Plans, Calculations, and lab/radiology results.
  • Operate and maintain Linear Accelerator, C.T. Simulator, ADAC Treatment Planning System, and VARIS System.
  • Coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective treatment delivery.
