Job Title: Radiation Therapist Profession: Technologist or Technician Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (06:00-18:00) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Certifications: Must-Have: Description: Radiation Therapist needed for an immediate start. The therapist treats patients using various treatment modalities. They utilize all treatment set-ups and treatment machines while adhering to current protocols. The therapist simulates and treats patients following the orders of the Radiation Oncologists. They present field verification films to Radiation Oncologists to verify set-up. Adjustments to fields are made as directed by the Radiation Oncologist. Documentation and follow-through on changes and re-filming are required. The therapist performs quality assurance checks daily on all treatment and CT machines. Problems or issues with machines must be communicated to the physicist, radiation oncologist, and lead radiation therapist. They observe and question patients regarding their response to treatment. The therapist screens and directs patients experiencing physical and emotional problems to the Radiation Oncologist, Nurse, or Social Worker. Patients should be directed to nursing staff for weekly evaluations. The therapist maintains the room and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Regular visual preventive safety inspections are performed on equipment. The lead therapist must be notified of all potential safety hazards related to the equipment.
