Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pulmonary Step Down/PCU position requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

  • Pulmonary Step Down Unit caring for patients requiring mechanical ventilation
  • Average patient ratio of 1:3
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, though 1.5 years accepted for candidates from a Level I trauma center or large hospital
  • ICU, ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy experience required
  • Large hospital or Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care
  • Experience with respiratory care including ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Management of cardiac drips without titration
  • 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide care to Pulmonary Step Down patients requiring mechanical ventilation and respiratory support
  • Work within a Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center setting with over 1,500 staffed beds
  • Participate in isolation precautions and PPE protocols as needed
  • May be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are not accepted
  • Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
