Description:
The Licensed Psychologist is responsible for providing professional mental health care for inmates/residents.
The successful candidate should be able to perform all necessary functions and tasks associated with this role.
Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
As part of a mental health team, confer with other clinical staff, including psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, social workers, to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems.
Ensure that treatment activities are well integrated and that patient care follow-through occurs.
Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
Make regular rounds to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through the use of appropriate treatments and activities for individuals in caseload.
Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.
Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others to gather information on the escalation of problem behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.
