Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing or behavioral health nursing experience
• Active New Hampshire RN license or compact RN license at the time of submission
• Current BLS certification
• Current CPI or MOAB certification
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Current resume detailing relevant psychiatric nursing experience
• Experience with Cerner is preferred but not required
• Strong communication, psychiatric assessment, de-escalation, and therapeutic patient-care skills

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Complete psychiatric assessments, monitor patient status, and document changes in condition
• Administer medications and evaluate patient responses according to established protocols
• Use therapeutic communication and evidence-based approaches to support patient stabilization
• Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral or psychiatric emergencies
• Apply approved safety and de-escalation techniques, including CPI or MOAB principles
• Collaborate with providers, therapists, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families while supporting individualized treatment goals and discharge planning
