Job Summary:
Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) in a progressive care unit located in Wausau, WI. This role involves providing specialized cardiac care in a fast-paced, high patient turnover environment, focusing on post-operative cardiac patients, arrhythmias, CHF, and other acute cardiac conditions. The position requires resilience, independence, and strong clinical skills in cardiac telemetry and intermediate care settings.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days, with shifts from 0700 to 1930, guaranteed 36 hours per week, with potential for low census hours in 4 to 8-hour increments.
- Required Qualifications: WI RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications; ability to pass EKG test within first week of hire; at least 1 year of recent strong cardiac experience including Cardiac Step Down Unit (SDU), Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 2 years of Intermediate Medical/Surgical (IMC), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Telemetry experience; experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips; EPIC charting experience within the last year; minimum of 2 years of experience as stated; associate degree or certificate required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.
- Additional Information:
- Float to all inpatient units as needed.
- Every other weekend and holiday work required.
- Unit is a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown, with diverse patient populations including post-op CABG, valve surgeries, thoracotomies, vascular cases, arrhythmias, CHF, post-procedure caths, pacers, defibrillators, ablations, acute cardiac events, and med/surg overflow like detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, resp failure, femoral pop bypass.
- Typical patient ratio is 1:4.
- Scrub colors are flexible.
- During flu season, vaccination compliance is mandatory; masks are required if declining vaccination.
