Shift: Nights, 7:00pm – 7:00am
Schedule: Choice of 3x12 or 4x12 available; 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule required
Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
Charting System: EPIC
Float Required: Yes
Call Requirement: 1 shift per pay period

Position Overview:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

 

Job duties:

  • Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self; attends education programs based on identified learning needs and assesses readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers.
  • Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs, and synthesizes assessment data prior to communication with others.
  • Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care, makes use of available multidisciplinary resources, and identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
  • Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects of care, and performs bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care, communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care, and participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.

Requirements:
License: NC State RN or Compact License.
Experience: 2+ years progressive care experience.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS & CPI-A required
Other requirement: Required Education: Nursing Diploma OR ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing. Preferred Education: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing. English: Read, Write, Speak.

 

Unit Details:
Unit: 34413441 : 3rd FloorUNC Health Wayne; 28-bed PCU (20 tele, 8 step-down).
Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
Patient Population: Adult cardiac/med-surg mix (CAD, CHF, NSTEMI).
Patient Diagnoses: CAD, CHF, NSTEMI. 3-4 admits/day. Fast-paced, critical thinkers excel. Growth: PCCN certs, clinical ladder.

Choice of 3x12 or 4x12 available; 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule required
