A Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a travel assignment at a healthcare facility. The role involves providing specialized nursing care for patients recovering from open-heart surgery, vascular procedures, and managing cardiac telemetry. The position requires flexibility to float between units and adherence to strict clinical and safety protocols.
Job Details
- Position: Cardiovascular PCU RN

- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Education & Experience: At least 2 years of experience in surgical telemetry, open-heart surgery, and vascular patient care; cardiac telemetry, NIHSS, and Epic experience are mandatory; Valid licensure with a compact license required; Minimum 1-year recent experience supervising adult patients in acute care settings.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 48 hours per week
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with cardiac conditions, including myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, pre/post-open heart surgery, vascular surgery, stroke with cardiac involvement, and structural heart support such as VAD or TAVR.
- Unit Procedures/Responsibilities: Breathing treatments, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, Trach care, sternal precautions, blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, epicardial pacer management, LVAD management, post-op open heart care, and telemetry monitoring with interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Additional Job Information: Candidates must be experienced with Epic EMR, managing ports, blood product protocols, and cardiac drips, including titration when required. Flexibility to float between similar units is required, with an expectation of working all holidays and providing references covering the last three years.
