Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit. This role supports a newly established cardiovascular progressive care unit caring for complex cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients who require advanced monitoring and nursing care. The Registered Nurse provides care in a collaborative setting while applying cardiovascular assessment, telemetry, clinical judgment, and early recognition of patient deterioration skills.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive care or critical care nursing experience
- Cardiology specialty experience
- Cardiac surgery specialty experience
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience with continuous bedside monitoring, including electrocardiogram, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and respiratory rate
- Experience with continuous invasive pressure monitoring, including arterial line and central venous pressure monitoring
- Experience with temporary pacing, including transvenous and epicardial wire pacing
- Experience managing vasopressor infusions, including phenylephrine and norepinephrine
- Experience managing inotrope infusions, including milrinone and dobutamine
- Chest tube management experience
- Phlebotomy experience
- Peripheral intravenous insertion experience
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of critical care experience, which does not need to be specific to a cardiac intensive care unit
- Charge Registered Nurse experience
- Registered Nurse precepting experience
- Additional Information:
- Provides care for cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients, including patients transitioning from critical care, recovering from cardiovascular procedures, or requiring a higher level of care.
- Maintains an approximate 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio.
- Manages patients requiring advanced cardiovascular monitoring and nursing care.
- Supports patients with vasopressor and inotrope infusions, temporary pacing, chest tubes, and invasive pressure monitoring.
- Any color of scrubs may be worn in accordance with the facilitys dress code policy.
