Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized care for post-operative cardiac patients, including those recovering from coronary bypass grafts, valve surgeries, and various cardiac conditions. The position requires administering and monitoring advanced treatments and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Unit Information: 16-bed Heart Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with an average patient census, specializing in post-op Coronary Bypass Graft, Valve surgery, Chest pain, Dysrhythmia with pre/post Pacemaker/AICD placement, pre/post Cath Lab, CHF
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
- Qualifications: Valid BLS and NIHSS certifications. ACLS preferred. Required to have relevant skills in heart rhythm interpretation, trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, phlebotomy, post-op heart surgeries. Experience with drips such as Heparin, Primacor, amiodarone, dobutamine
- Support within the Department: 2 PCA/CNA on days, 1 CNA on night shift, unit coordinator during daytime, charge RN on assignment, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, limited IV/VAT team support for stat/blood cultures/specialty draws, remote telemonitoring
- Technology/Equipment: Cernero EMR, Plum ICU Medical IV Pumps, Philips monitors, Omnicell medication dispensing, hospital-specific equipment, and unit-specific supplies
- Float: Float rotation may be required to Medical Surgical and other Intermediate Care Units, with at least 1-hour notification prior to shift
- Orientation: 8 hours of online modules, NVCI class, nursing orientation class, Thursday day shift orientation scheduled 0645-1915 plus 1 additional orientation shift
