The role requires utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide patient-centered care tailored to the physical and developmental needs of each patient.

Job Details

  • Position Description: This role assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. The RN reviews patient history, physical assessments, diagnostics, and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers.
  • Formulates a plan of care: Including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patients, families, and the healthcare team. Sets realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patients and their families, considering their holistic needs.
  • Implements the care plan: Through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates responses: To care and teaching, revises plans as needed, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to monitor patient progress towards goals.
  • Documentation: Accurate and timely in patient records, reflecting objective and subjective data, interventions, responses, and physician orders.
  • Participation and leadership: The RN may participate in research activities, unit or facility leadership, and educational initiatives, mentoring others when appropriate.
  • Interaction: Engages with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, supporting effective communication and care continuity.
  • Supervision: May oversee licensed and non-licensed personnel, providing guidance to ensure quality care.
  • Physical environment: Typical direct patient care environment, requiring standing, walking, bending, and handling up to 75 pounds. Effective communication, body mechanics, and use of standard precautions are essential.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license in the practicing state, BLS certification, and a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience within the past 12 months in an acute care setting or relevant experience.
  • Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree and professional certification.
