Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 24 months of Telemetry/Cardiac experience and Level II trauma background.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (Cardiology) within a hospital setting
  • 24-bed unit caring for patients with rhythm disturbances, heart failure, MI, CCL recovery, and Med/Surg overflow
  • Patient ratios of 1:3-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
  • Tele tech unit monitoring in place
  • Utilizes Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active Iowa RN license (single-state or compact) required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
  • Minimum 24 months of Telemetry/Cardiac, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience required
  • Experience with ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) and Pacemaker patient populations required
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience required
  • Cardiac drip/titration experience required (Nitro, Cardene, Heparin, Dilt, Dopamine, etc.)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Level II trauma experience required
  • Level I trauma experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted with minimum 12 months of Med/Tele, Cardiac/Tele, or PCU experience
  • Supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference required from within 24 months
  • Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care for a cardiac progressive care patient population requiring continuous rhythm monitoring
  • Navy blue, solid-color scrubs required
  • Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) unless the unit is closed
  • Limited time-off requests permitted during the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holiday windows
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible based on driver's license address
  • Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments in another market
