Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse opportunity in Yakima, Washington. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a 226-bed community hospital setting. The role requires a compassionate caregiver capable of managing a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 7 p.m. 7 a.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, 2 years of total nursing experience including 1 year in Progressive Care Unit, current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications, knowledge in trach care, chest tubes, TR band management, post-catheterization care, central line maintenance, and general nursing. Must have experience reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms, caring for patients on Bipap and high-flow oxygen, and managing titratable drips such as diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, and Lasix.
  • Patient Types: Medical conditions include diabetes mellitus type II, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, COVID-19, pneumonia, altered mental status, transient ischemic attack, acute kidney injury, dehydration, alcohol withdrawal, syncope, chronic kidney disease, sepsis, stroke, dialysis, pulmonary edema, anemia, shock, and hypoxia. Cardiac cases include post-percutaneous coronary intervention care, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction, and chest pain. Oncology patients with diagnoses such as leukemia and neutropenia may be cared for but without chemotherapy administration unless specifically ordered.
  • Additional Information: High Spanish-speaking population (30%) and a significant underserved demographic requiring compassionate care. Experience with EMR systems, specifically Epic, is essential. Float within scope and throughout the hospital may be required. Weekend rotation of at least two nights per month, with weekend nights falling on Friday and Saturday; Sunday is not considered part of the weekend for night shifts.
