Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit. The position provides care for adult and geriatric patients in progressive care, telemetry, medical-surgical, and neuro stepdown settings. Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, complex clinical interventions, and collaboration across multiple units as operational needs require.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: 12 years of progressive care nursing experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; Kansas and Missouri nursing licenses or a compact nursing license.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; previous charge experience; experience with sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and central line care and management.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Patient ratios are approximately 1:5. The role supports adults and geriatric patients in medical-surgical, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and neuro stepdown settings. Clinical responsibilities may include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, sepsis care, wound care, renal failure care, stroke care, and care for patients with atrial fibrillation, gastrointestinal bleeding, alcohol-related conditions, suicidal ideation, and COVID-19. Weekend coverage includes a minimum of eight weekend shifts during each six-week schedule period, with holiday shifts and charge assignments based on unit needs. Floating may occur between departments, units, and facilities within the scope of practice.
