Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse position is available in a hospital setting. The assignment involves floating to all step-down and telemetry units within the facility, including medical, surgical, overflow, and observation units. The role requires adaptability across multiple units to meet patient care needs, providing high-quality nursing services to diverse patient populations.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with start times between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM; minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); AHA (American Heart Association) compliant; 2 years of experience as a registered nurse; proficiency with neuro assessments, cardiac drips (including cardizem, amio, heparin), reading/interpreting strips, and performing electrocardiogram (ECG) exams; experience with EPIC electronic medical record system; previous travel experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpreting telemetry strips.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required across PCU, observation, overflow, medical, and surgical units; may occasionally float to ICU or Emergency Room for patient holds or boarders, respectively.
  • Additional Information: Must be able to work a flexible schedule covering weekends (minimum of 4 weekends every 6 weeks), holidays (1 major and 1 minor per schedule), with an on-call expectation of no more than three times per week; holiday coverage required if needed; responsive to unit equipment such as CPAP, high flow oxygen; capable of interpreting monitor strips and EKGs, and communicating changes to physicians. Orientation consists of three shifts across different units in addition to general facility orientation. The healthcare provider operates a policy allowing cancellations of up to 2 shifts in 12 weeks or 3 shifts in more than 12 weeks without penalty, providing scheduling flexibility.
