Job Summary
A Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is available at a healthcare facility located in Greenville, North Carolina. The RN will be responsible for providing specialized cardiac care to patients with complex cardiovascular needs, including myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and post-cardiac procedures. This role involves collaboration with medical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced, 64-bed flex unit specializing in intermediate and general patient care.

  • Certifications/Education/Experience Requirements: Active NC or compact state nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), strong cardiac skills, ability to read/interpret electrocardiogram strips, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, and must pass EKG exam prior to start. Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Patient Population: Cardiac medicine and cardiovascular subspecialties including myocardial infarction (S/P STEMI, NSTEMI), cardiac arrest, high-risk cardiac OB, arrhythmia management, coronary artery disease management, acute heart failure, and overflow medical patients.
  • Responsibilities: Providing patient care for cardiac and medical conditions, managing cardiac drips and titration, performing bedside procedures such as cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and monitoring for clinical changes to ensure continuous high-level care.
  • Additional Information: The unit features a self-scheduling model, with staffing ratios of 1:4. The charge nurse does not have a patient assignment. The role involves working in a 64-bed flexible unit with a focus on cardiovascular assessment and treatment, requiring teamwork and clinical efficiency.
