Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • 32-bed Progressive Care Unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center facility
  • Patient population may include CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infection, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA, excluding mechanically ventilated patients
  • RN to patient ratio typically 1:4, up to 1:5 depending on acuity
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Possibility of low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Bedside and nurses station telemetry monitoring available

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Skills required include trach care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Support team includes CNAs for ADLs, daytime HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
  • Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any unmet contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
  • Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available on-site

  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel rates
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
