Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position is available in Asheville, North Carolina. This role involves providing specialized care to patients requiring close monitoring and support following surgical procedures or during acute medical conditions. The position requires prior experience in a similar setting, with a focus on cardiovascular and vascular surgery patient populations.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), 2 years of experience in a progressive care or telemetry setting, familiarity with electronic medical records (Cerner preferred).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures such as CABG, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass; previous stepdown or CVICU experience within the past year.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit supports patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures, including open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and vascular interventions. Care involves managing epidural medications, chest tubes, IV fluids, and cardiac medication titration, with equipment including Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps. The job entails working in a fast-paced environment requiring team collaboration and flexibility. No on-call or weekend shifts are required beyond the minimum scheduled weekend days.
