Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN with 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure for a 12-hour night shift contract.

Details

• 32-bed Progressive Care Unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
• Cares for a wide variety of patients not requiring mechanical ventilation, including CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA
• RN to patient ratio typically 1:4, occasionally 1:5 depending on acuity
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possibility of low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division: CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) per scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Bedside and central telemetry monitoring available
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
• Experience with traches, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to progressive care patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and coordination with multidisciplinary support teams
• Facility offers a family-oriented unit culture and daytime receptionist/HUC support
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract hours to be made up if not met
• Navy scrub color required
