Travel RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830-$1,930
• Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week
• Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Healthcare Setting: 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit providing family-centered care to women and infants
• Patient Population: Postpartum adults, healthy newborns, and neonates
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Float Expectations: May float to units with similar patient acuity, including antepartum services, based on organizational needs

Mother/Baby RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent postpartum, Mother/Baby, or couplet-care nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• IV certification and demonstrated peripheral IV start skills
• Recent labor and delivery nursing experience
• EPIC electronic health record experience
• Ability to interpret telemetry and successfully complete an EKG examination before the start of the assignment
• Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Experience with electronic documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Availability to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting promptly before the assignment begins

Postpartum and Newborn RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Perform maternal and newborn assessments, including evaluation of fundus, lochia, perineum, incision sites, pain, and vital signs
• Care for healthy newborns and infants requiring monitoring for conditions such as neonatal abstinence syndrome, hypoglycemia, low birth weight, or large-for-gestational-age status
• Administer medications and therapies, including IV antibiotics, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, Pitocin, antihypertensives, opioids, and phototherapy as indicated
• Recognize and respond to postpartum complications, including hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, and wound infection
• Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access and administer blood and blood products according to policy
• Provide breastfeeding support, breast pump education, newborn care teaching, discharge instruction, and circumcision-care education to parents
• Complete newborn screenings, vaccine administration, cord care, thermoregulation, and infant identification procedures
• Support vaginal and cesarean delivery recovery and promote safe couplet care for mothers and infants
• Collaborate with IV teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, social services, interpretation services, unit support staff, and rapid response teams
• Float to comparable units as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
