Description

American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 12-hour day shift assignment requiring a CA RN license, PALS/BLS certification, and 2+ years of recent PICU experience.

Details

  • Work in an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within a Level 2 trauma facility
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 with criteria for 1:1 as needed
  • Patient population includes respiratory illness, spinal surgery, craniotomy, sepsis, shock, diabetic ketoacidosis, general surgery, and ENT cases, ages infant and up
  • 12-hour day shift schedule, 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Up to 4 weekend shifts per month required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to Pediatrics or NICU, up to 1-2 units per shift, with travelers floating first
  • Uses Epic documentation system and Pyxis medication system
  • Special equipment includes Phillips MX 800 monitors
  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RTs manage ventilators
  • 24/7 in-house PICU intensivist coverage

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current BLS and PALS certification (AHA only) required
  • NRP certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU specialty experience required
  • Previous travel experience and Epic experience preferred
  • Two clinical references from the last two places of employment, including one from a nurse manager or director, required for consideration
  • Complete employment history for the past 7 years required for consideration
  • Current skills checklist (valid within the past year) required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a primary care modality within the PICU
  • 3 to 4 days of orientation provided
  • Facility-specific specialty testing required
  • Must be available for 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) and 2 of 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day)
  • Dress code requires professional-colored scrubs (no denim), non-skid closed-toe shoes, minimal jewelry, and neat hair/facial hair
  • Nail polish must be chip-free with no gels, acrylics, or extensions
  • Magnet-designated hospital
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius may be considered at a local rate
