Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma hospital requiring 2 years of PICU experience and PALS certification.

Details

• Level 1 trauma acute care setting in a 16-bed PICU and 16-bed Intermediate unit
• Mixed patient population including Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and CV ICU diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7:30a
• Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days)
• May require working 1 significant and 1 insignificant holiday depending on assignment dates
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required to PICU and lower levels of care by rotation; floating to NICU is optional; full teams float together
• Dedicated charge RN and house supervisor on every shift
• 1 PCT covering entire PICU unit
• Intensivists, APPs, and Residents in house 24/7
• Uses Avia and Servo U ventilators along with Trilogy and LTV home ventilators
• Bedside Philips monitors with 24/7 monitor tech support

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required (or application process initiated)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications (AHA) required
• 2 years of PICU experience required; candidates with less experience may be considered for Intermediate unit placement
• Must be able to recognize cardiac rhythm changes and understand associated interventions
• Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Information

• Care for critically ill pediatric patients across ICU and Intermediate levels of care
• No specific scrub color or dress code, but attire should be child-friendly
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 3-4 twelve-hour shifts
• COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility; no radius restriction on eligibility
