Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PICU position requiring at least 2 years of PICU experience, including 1 year in PCICU.

Details

• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), 36 hours per week
• Level II Trauma Center with 22 PICU beds and average daily census of 10-11 patients
• Mixed PICU/PCICU unit caring predominantly for cardiac/cardiovascular patients, including congenital heart defects, fresh open hearts, and post-cath cases
• May also care for general PICU patients with neuro, respiratory, surgical, and medical diagnoses
• Occasional care for trauma, chemo, and rare tier 3 COVID surge patients up to age 30
• ECMO machine managed by dedicated ECMO specialist; CRRT cases require prior CRRT/Prismax experience
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Floating required to MedSurg, ED, or NICU as Helping Hand or sitter
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call, but may be placed on low census/standby status

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience, with at least 1 year in PCICU
• Experience with cardiac patients, surgeries, and related diagnoses
• Proficiency in aseptic/sterile technique, dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, and suctioning
• Experience with G/GJ/J-tubes, NG tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, and drip management
• Foley insertion/management and central line care, including dressing changes and blood draws
• Peripheral lab draw and patient discharge experience
• ECMO and peritoneal dialysis experience preferred but not required
• Strong critical thinking, time management, and adaptability skills

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a mixed PICU/PCICU population with a focus on cardiac and post-surgical cases
• Solid-color, professional scrubs required with no graphics, logos, or hooded designs; long sleeves must roll above the elbow
• Long hair must be worn up while on duty
• Team spirit attire permitted on Fridays during football season
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
