Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2 years of PICU experience and PALS certification.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) of a hospital setting
  • Care for pediatric critical care patients including ENT, general surgery, ortho, and pre/post-op cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to NICU or other units within skill set, with orientation provided
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Charge RN experience preferred
  • BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP and CRRT certifications preferred
  • Skilled in breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency vents, oscillators, and procedural sedation
  • Experience with RSI (Rapid Sequence Intubation) drugs, trach care, and vent management
  • Skilled in blood/blood product administration, CVP monitoring, and 12 lead EKG acquisition
  • Experience with drains, epidural and PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, port-a-cath care, syringe pumps, traction/halo/pin care, triple lumen catheters, and wound vac management
  • First-time travelers accepted with required experience
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients requiring specialized respiratory, cardiovascular, and procedural support
  • Perm staff self-schedule first, with travelers scheduled to meet unit needs
  • Up to 3 days of RTO accepted with no holiday RTO permitted
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities within the region
