Key Responsibilities
- Administer physical therapy treatments to residents and patients with temporary or long-term disabilities to relieve pain, restore or improve function, and promote healing
- Ensure all treatment is delivered in accordance with an established plan of care as delegated and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist
- Provide clinical support and instruct patients, families, and caregivers on therapy-related activities
- Monitor and document patient response to treatment interventions
- Complete required forms and documentation in compliance with company policy and state/federal regulations
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Certification from the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) for PTAs, administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT)
- Valid and active PTA licensure in the state of Kansas (or eligibility to obtain)
- Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology
- Ability to follow clinical instructions from a licensed Physical Therapist
- Physical stamina to assist patients with movement and therapeutic exercises
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience working in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated empathy and patience in a patient-care environment
