Key Responsibilities

• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercise, endurance training, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness
• Apply and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, iontophoresis, hot/cold packs, whirlpools, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, and TENS units
• Monitor patient response to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education
• Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control protocols including hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, participate in team conferences, and serve as a resource to other healthcare disciplines regarding therapy and projected treatment goals

Required Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in the state of Florida
• Ability to implement and carry out treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Knowledge of safe patient handling, materials handling, and workplace safety protocols
• Commitment to infection control standards and facility compliance policies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting
• Familiarity with a broad range of therapeutic modalities and assistive devices
• Strong patient and family education skills, including instruction in body mechanics and home exercise programs
