Job Description & Requirements
Physical Therapist Assistant - Rehab - (PTA)
StartDate: ASAP
Available Shifts: 8 D
Pay Rate: $1659.00 - $1709.00
This Physical Therapist Assistant role is based in Waxahachie, Texas, a charming and welcoming community known for its historic downtown, picturesque architecture, and vibrant local culture. Waxahachie offers a unique blend of small-town warmth with easy access to big-city amenities. Stroll through tree-lined streets and beautifully preserved buildings, explore local boutiques and cafes, and enjoy year-round events and festivals that bring the community together. The city’s parks and walking trails offer relaxing outdoor escapes, and its proximity to Dallas provides quick access to professional sports, world-class dining, museums, and entertainment while still enjoying a quieter, more relaxed home base.
You will be working in a dedicated 30-bed inpatient rehabilitation setting designed to help patients regain function and independence after illness, injury, or surgery. The environment is structured to support collaborative, patient-centered care, with therapy gyms and treatment spaces equipped for progressive rehab interventions. As a PTA, you will work closely with physical therapists and a skilled interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality therapy services that emphasize functional outcomes and safe transitions home or to the next level of care.
In this role, your typical day will include assisting with comprehensive physical therapy treatment plans, focusing on functional mobility, strengthening, balance training, gait training, and endurance activities. You will help patients with therapeutic exercises, transfers, bed mobility, wheelchair skills, and use of assistive devices. You will also reinforce patient and family education on safety, home exercise programs, and equipment needs to support successful discharge planning.
Patient care is delivered in a structured, yet supportive environment that allows you to focus on meaningful, hands-on therapy. Caseloads are tailored to the unit’s 30-bed size, offering opportunities to develop strong rapport with patients and to follow their progress throughout the rehabilitation stay. You will participate in daily communication with physical therapists, nursing staff, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated care, and you may be involved in team meetings to discuss patient goals, progress, and discharge recommendations.
Shifts are designed to provide consistent coverage for the rehab unit, typically including daytime hours with the possibility of weekend or holiday rotation depending on census and patient needs. The setting offers exposure to a diverse range of diagnoses, helping you build strong clinical skills and providing a solid foundation for future career growth in rehabilitation.
