Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant will function under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist.
The PTA will provide physical therapy services according to a patient plan of care.
They will treat patients as prescribed by a physician after the initial evaluation of the patient's needs has been established by the Physical Therapist.
The Physical Therapist will make the initial evaluation visit and assign care to the PTA as appropriate.
The PTA will treat patients within the plan of care developed with the Physical Therapist to relieve pain and restore function.
The assistant will use various physical means, such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
They will direct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and functional training.
The PTA will assist with activities of daily living, including transfer activities and prosthetic training.
They will utilize equipment such as ultra-violet and infrared lamps, low voltage generation, diathermy, and ultrasonic machines.
The Physical Therapist Assistant will observe, record, and report to the Physical Therapist the patient's reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient's condition.
They will teach the patient and caregivers self-care techniques and activities as appropriate.
The PTA will complete and submit accurate clinical notes and required documentation in a timely manner.
