Oversees and directs the work of Physical Therapist Assistants and/or other designated staff members. Provides evaluations and treatments to a wide range of ages with varying diagnoses and issues. Performs assessments, identifies therapy diagnoses, formulates therapy treatment plans, and implements services to patients. Implements, supervises, and modifies therapy plans based on patients' responses to optimize outcomes. Reviews clinical records and case histories. Attends care conferences, meetings, and remains in contact with referring providers and other healthcare professionals to review patients' statuses and needs. Collaborates with team members to assure appropriate medical equipment is arranged and care plans are established prior to discharge. Documents patient findings and treatments including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses according to policies. Provides services in a timely manner and according to regulatory requirements. Works with in-patient and out-patient populations in various settings as assigned. Directs the work of support staff, students, or interns. Facilitates a partnership between providers, patients, and their families. Develops, implements, and conducts patient education and therapy programs based on needs. Provides patients and families with clear and concise home exercise programs to achieve rehabilitation goals. Ensures these instructions are understood by asking for feedback and return demonstrations from patients or caregivers. Advises patients and family members on self-care and independence methods that promote a healthcare partnership. Assists senior staff in administrative matters and operations as appropriate. Utilizes the hospital computer system to obtain patient information and stay informed on directives. Participates in the timely flow of information via digital platforms as appropriate. Provides summaries of results and statistics as required. Assists in acquiring and fitting durable medical equipment/devices based on patient needs. Communicates with supervisors and providers to measure, fit, and deliver equipment and maintain stock. Maintains supply stocks and clinical equipment at acceptable levels. Remains current on billing procedures to aid in service reimbursement. Maintains cleanliness of clinical space. Educates staff on physical therapy-related issues and informs patients/families about functional limitations and therapeutic goals. Assists in committee and management duties and represents the Client Department as needed. Provides consultations, presentations, and in-services to various personnel regarding therapy services. Adheres to regulatory and practice standards set by the relevant professional bodies. Follows confidentiality and quality assurance standards; participates in quality management functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
