Physical Therapist - Long-term Acute Care - (PT - Acute)
StartDate: ASAP
Available Shifts: 8 D
Pay Rate: $2717.00 - $2800.00
This Physical Therapist opportunity is based in a long-term acute care (LTAC) setting in Galloway, New Jersey, offering a unique chance to practice at a high level of clinical complexity while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of a coastal community.
Galloway is a vibrant and growing community in Atlantic County, just minutes from the famous Jersey Shore. Residents enjoy easy access to beautiful beaches, boardwalks, and oceanfront activities, along with nearby Atlantic City entertainment, dining, and shopping. The area offers abundant outdoor recreation, including local parks, golf courses, wildlife refuges, and walking trails, making it ideal for those who value work-life balance and an active lifestyle. Galloway provides a welcoming suburban feel, with convenient access to major roadways and regional hubs while maintaining a relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere.
In this LTAC environment, you will work with medically complex adult patients who require extended hospital-level care. Typical patients may include those recovering from critical illness, multi-system failure, complex medical and surgical conditions, cardiopulmonary compromise, prolonged ventilator dependence, neurological events, or severe debility. The setting offers a strong interdisciplinary model where physical therapists collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational and speech therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff to drive meaningful functional outcomes.
A typical day in this role includes performing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, developing individualized plan-of-care programs, and delivering evidence-based interventions focused on mobility, strength, endurance, balance, and functional independence. You will be involved in early and progressive mobility, gait training, transfer training, and discharge planning, as well as patient and family education. PTs in this setting often manage a varied caseload, with patient ratios and assignments adjusted for acuity to support safe and effective care. You can expect to work with patients who have a range of support needs, including those with lines, tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilator support, in coordination with the broader medical team.
The facility features a clinically focused and collaborative culture, where rehabilitation plays a central role in each patient’s recovery journey. Physical therapists are valued contributors to care conferences, interdisciplinary rounding, and goal-setting for patients and families. This LTAC setting offers the opportunity to deepen skills in cardiopulmonary and medically complex rehabilitation, positioning you well for future roles in acute care, inpatient rehab, or advanced specialty practice. You will have the chance to build a strong professional profile by working with a diverse and challenging patient population and contributing to meaningful improvements in independence and quality of life.
Scheduling typically includes full-time hours with consistent weekday shifts, and may include rotating weekends or holidays to support continuous patient care needs. The pace is dynamic but supportive, with an emphasis on coordinated teamwork, safe practice, and high-quality patient outcomes.
