Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for assisting with performing tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative Physical Therapy services to participants.
These services are provided both in a center and in home settings to maximize participant independence and safety, and to develop or restore function.
The Physical Therapist Assistant works under the direction of a physical therapist to implement the plan of care established by the therapist.
Collaboration with other members of the rehabilitation team is essential to ensure individualized treatment plans are followed.
Responsibilities include administering participants' treatment programs as established by the Physical Therapist.
The assistant also assists in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing as needed.
Coordination with the rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on treatment plans is crucial.
The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for scheduling treatment sessions and clinical visits.
Documentation of Physical Therapy interventions must be completed according to established care plans.
Training and instruction may be provided to staff, participants, and caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic equipment.
Maintenance of therapeutic equipment must be managed appropriately.
The assistant must be alert to input from team members, participants, and caregivers, and update the Physical Therapist promptly on any changes in participant conditions or functional status.
Participation in end-of-life care coordination and support is also required under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
The assistant must act within the scope of practice and complete all documentation timely and accurately.
Confidentiality of all company procedures and participant information must be maintained.
Following company policies and procedures, as well as participating in quality improvement activities and trainings, is essential.
Regular communication with supervisors and the team regarding workload and priorities is expected.
Flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve is necessary.
Additional duties may be assigned as required.
