Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 1+ years of acute care experience for a Level II trauma hospital setting.

Details

  • Acute care setting within a Level II trauma hospital, part of a combined PT, OT, and Speech unit
  • May be assigned to outpatient, inpatient, and/or rehab areas depending on facility need
  • Inpatient caseload includes ortho, post-surgical, neuro, trauma, cardiac, and medsurg diagnoses (excludes NICU, pediatrics, PICU, ER, and ICU)
  • Outpatient caseload focuses on ortho and neuro diagnoses
  • Patient load varies by area: up to 9 patients per day outpatient, up to 13 per day inpatient, rehab caseload varies
  • 8-hour day shifts, typically Sunday-Thursday, though schedule may vary (e.g. Wed-Sun or Thu-Mon)
  • Supported by rehab aides/OTA/PTA, typically 2 per shift
  • Weekend requirements vary by assignment and will be specified upon placement
  • May be required to float to other assigned areas
  • Uses Cerner PowerChart for documentation

Requirements

  • Active PT license required for the state of practice; license required if applicable
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required; travel and trauma experience preferred
  • Inpatient clinical experience may be considered in lieu of full year of experience
  • Experience with bedside swallow studies preferred for those working with Speech patients
  • Must be comfortable working across ortho, neuro, trauma, and post-surgical patient populations

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients across assigned inpatient, outpatient, or rehab areas
  • Facility provides 24/7 pharmacy access
  • Floor-specific orientation lasts approximately 1.5 days, including Cerner training as needed
  • Holiday coverage is not required
  • Uniform requirement includes maroon polo shirt, dark colored pants, closed-toed shoes, with optional lab coat
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
  • Open to first-time travelers with inpatient clinical experience
