Description:
This position performs non-discretionary technical duties under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Responsibilities include compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by physicians or other qualified prescribers.
All actions must comply with state and federal laws.
Cleans laminar flow hood and counter tops per hospital policy.
Compounds and admixtures intravenous solutions as specified by the pharmacist in charge.
Counts and pours pharmaceuticals in the preparation of prescriptions.
Documents quality assurance activities, including refrigerator temperatures and late charges.
Maintains expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements.
Places drug products into specified containers for floor stock, including drug carts and emergency drug supplies.
Prepares and affixes labels in a safe and accurate manner.
Receives ordered items and places them into stock.
Refers all discretionary tasks to the pharmacist.
Removes drugs from stock for prescription preparation.
Reviews inventory levels to ensure that outdated drugs are removed.
Ships outdated drugs or returns them to appropriate vendors.
Willingly performs other duties as assigned.
The department controls, mixes, compounds, and distributes drugs.
Pharmaceutical consultation is provided in support of inpatients as well as outpatient areas.
Prescription-based retail entities are excluded.
