Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure the supply of medicines is within the law
- Verify suitable medications are prescribed to patients
- Accurately maintain confidential records and pharmacy files
- Advise patients on medications, reactions, and answer questions
- Provide consultation on drug storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions
- Offer patient services such as smoking cessation and cholesterol management
- Educate proper handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
- Supervise pharmacy staff members
- Maintain inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate with healthcare providers
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists
Requirements of the Pharmacist- Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
