Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist
  • Accept and dispense prescription medications.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns.
  • Ensure the supply of medicines is within the law.
  • Ensure prescribed medicines are suitable for patients.
  • Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients.
  • Advise patients about medicines, including dosage and potential side effects.
  • Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications.
  • Offer services such as smoking cessation and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on handling medical devices like glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for external or internal use.
  • Prepare sterile solutions following proper procedures.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Identify and communicate drug-related problems with physicians.

Requirements of the Pharmacist
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
  • Licensed by the state pharmacy board.
