Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure the supply of medicines is within the law
- Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients
- Advise patients about medicines, including usage and potential reactions
- Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications
- Provide services such as smoking cessation and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on the proper handling of medical devices
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
- Supervise pharmacy staff members
- Maintain appropriate inventory on pharmaceutical supplies
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems with healthcare practitioners
Requirements of the Pharmacist- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred
- Registered Pharmacist License in state(s) of practice
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
