Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure that the supply and prescription of medicines are lawful and suitable
- Accurately maintain confidential records of patients
- Advise patients on medicines, including usage and potential reactions
- Provide consultation on medication storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions
- Offer patient services like smoking cessation and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on medical device usage
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions as required
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
- Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems to healthcare practitioners
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists
Requirements of the Pharmacist- Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
