Job Summary:
Verify and fill orders for medications.
Monitor patient medication therapies.
Provide drug information.
Identify and troubleshoot potential medication safety hazards.
Document all interactions for medical review.
Supervise and direct support personnel.
Essential Functions:
Process, enter, verify, and distribute medication orders within the institution timely.
Ensure that medication therapy is efficacious, safe, cost-effective, and achieves the best therapeutic outcomes.
Assure that medication prescribing is optimal with respect to indication, dose, route, frequency, and history of allergy.
Conduct and manage daily reports on medication utilization based upon daily rounds.
Identify, catalogue, and analyze areas in which medication improvement is needed.
Consistently perform quality assurance procedures in related work areas.
Participate in all pharmacy-related tasks and programs.
Expedite changes needed to meet regulatory standards and laws.
Participate in department cost savings.
Comply with drug formulary and appropriate documentation.
Collaborate with leadership and buyers to procure medications and related supplies.
Assist in making recommendations on process improvement or development of new pharmacy services.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
