Travel Nursing Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: 19-bed pediatric and pediatric oncology unit
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 to 1:5
• Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record (EMR)
• Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts during the assignment, including two Saturdays
• Orientation: Four-hour hospital orientation followed by an eight-hour shift on the unit
• Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrub tops, or an all-navy/all-white combination

Pediatric Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care pediatric nursing experience
• Previous hospital-based pediatric nursing experience required
• Pediatric oncology experience preferred; APHON certification required when caring for oncology patients
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills
• Ability to float to PICU and NICU areas as needed

Pediatric Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to pediatric and pediatric oncology patients
• Assess patient conditions, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for changes in patient status
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Support children and families through complex diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Cerner electronic medical record
• Follow pediatric, oncology, infection prevention, and patient safety standards
• Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Float to PICU or NICU assignments when needed and within demonstrated competency
