Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift assignment requiring chemotherapy certification and pediatric oncology experience.

Details

  • Pediatric Oncology unit specializing in chemotherapy administration and BMT care
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • Bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Cares for pediatric oncology patients including chemotherapy, biotherapy, and bone marrow transplant recipients

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, PALS, Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC), and APHON
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central line and port access/management, and PICC line care
  • Experienced in chemotherapy administration including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral routes
  • Knowledgeable in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, and sepsis
  • Skilled in symptom management related to chemotherapy side effects
  • Experienced in administration of blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
  • Knowledgeable in pain management including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
  • Skilled in patient/family psychosocial support and pediatric team collaboration
  • One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, port/central line management, and symptom monitoring
  • Coordinate care with the pediatric oncology team including biotherapy and bone marrow transplant support
  • Recognize and manage oncologic emergencies and treatment side effects
  • Support patients and families through education and psychosocial care
  • Flu vaccine required between October 31 and March 31 with no exemptions
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
  • RTO must be limited to 5-7 days
  • Previous permanent employment at this health system must be disclosed, and candidates cannot have been permanent staff within the last 6 months
